Kefa is the managing partner of Maples & Associates Advocates and the firm’s point man on matters to do with energy & environment and banking & finance.

Kefa is an Advocate of the Courts of Judicature with over fourteen (14) years of experience. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in law (with honours) from Makerere University and a Diploma in legal practice from Law Development Centre. He is an LLM candidate in Environment and Energy Law at University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Kefa has previously worked with two international financial institutions as in-house counsel where he built experience in all types of financing; secured and unsecured, syndicated loans, acquisition financing and project finance. He eventually joined private legal practice where he advised a number of financial institutions and investment funds in regard to their lending portfolios.

It is during this transition that Kefa reignited his interest for the environment. To that end, Kefa has advised on a number of renewable energy projects and he is retained as legal counsel by the renewable energy association and sector players. He is very keen on climate change and the energy transition, and other mechanisms being put in place globally to curb climate change.

Kefa is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public.

He has previously served on the Board of Y-Save Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited, one of the largest cooperatives in the country.
